On this experience our passionate cultural guides share the story of Taungurung Culture, specific to tabilk-tabilk – the place of many waterholes. This area of Taungurung Country within Tahbilk Winery and Wetlands, boasts 1,214 hectares of river flats with an extensive frontage to the Goulburn River and impressive backwaters and creeks. We share with you how the story of Taungurung People and Culture is inextricably connected to reading and managing Country. Learn about Taungurung aspirations, language, modern expression of culture and our aspirations.
You’ll experience a Welcome and grounding ritual to connect you to Country, inspiring yarns with two cultural guides, a walk along the Taungurung Flora Trail (1km) to learn the various cultural practices by Taungurung People over generations; and enjoy a gentle cruise through the wetlands keeping an eye and ear out for the prolific birdlife, frogs, turtles, and seasonal aquatic life unique to this place. We finish by giving thanks to Country – the keeper of our stories, past, present and future.

This 3-hour cultural experience departs and ends at Tahbilk Estate Restaurant, includes quality time with two cultural guides, a Welcoming and grounding ritual, morning tea, a boat cruise on the Tahbilk wetlands, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions soak in the beauty of your surrounds.

Departs from Tahbilk Estate Restaurant carpark at 10.00am and concludes at this location by 1.00pm.
Requires a short boat journey. The bus can be boarded by a small step up or via a wheelchair lift. The boat is accessed via a ramp.
Roughly 1.5-2km of flat walking on uneven ground is required
We will have one hour without access to a toilet on the eco-trail walk
A morning tea and shared long lunch experience is provided – dietary requirements can be met upon request
Parking is available at the Tahbilk Estate Restaurant carpark

Getting there
Tahbilk Winery and Wetlands is located just outside of Nagambie at 142 Mulberry Dr, Tabilk VIC 3608.
Via car, Tahbilk is 90 minutes from Melbourne along the Hume Highway. Follow the signs for the Tahbilk Winery or Tahbilk Estate Restaurant, once through the front entrance.
Tahbilk Winery is approximately 30min via bicycle from Nagambie town. There are bicycle racks available in front of the Cellar Door.
